Join this exclusive tour of the award-winning St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School Sports Performance Centre and explore a leading example of sustainable, resilient sports architecture. Designed by Blight Rayner Architecture and engineered by Northrop Consulting Engineers, the facility features a 96-metre-long indoor sports hall built with 135m³ of prefabricated glulam timber portal frames, creating an impressive 23-metre column-free span.

Constructed using a Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) approach, the building comprises 87% timber, enabling rapid on-site assembly and reducing environmental impact. Located on a flood-affected site, the centre was purposefully designed with elevated floor levels and durable materials to ensure long-term flood resilience. Recognised as the 2025 Greater Brisbane Regional Project of the Year by the Australian Institute of Architects, this facility demonstrates how mass timber construction can meet the demands of performance, sustainability, and climate adaptability.
