  • A preservative code number (listed in Appendix C, AS1604.1)
  • A hazard class number (described in Section 1 of AS1604.1)
  • A hazard suffix code

I

XXX  is a 3 digit numerical code indicating the company and treatment plant number (see Table 1)

XX    is a 2 digit numerical code indicating preservative number (see Table 2)

HX    is an alphanumerical code indicating the hazard appropriate to the preservative level (see Table 3)

Other information may be marked on preservative-treated timber including,

  • the Australian Standard relating to preservative treated timber . i.e. “AS1604.1”
  • the name of the Company which manufactured the product
  • the date/time of a preservative treatment
  • production batch number or product numbers

Treatment plant numbers were assigned to individual treatment plants for many years by the NSW State Government. However this service was discontinued in 2013. Timber Queensland have provided a list below of TQ members and their respective treatment plant numbers. This will assist Queensland timber users to identify preservative treated timber products from Timber Queensland treatment manufacturer members.
